Two years ago, I met a lovely and magnificent woman in NYC who was battling cancer. She didn't take her friends, family and life for granted at all. She
fought like hell to battle her illness. Did she complain? No. She even continued to work and live her daily life like the rest of us. She was a fun gal who
had a huge bright smile.
The day I met her, she introduce me to new food and took me on a private tour of her job. It wasn't just any job; it was a job with a huge media giant that handles publication for many popular magazines. It was definitely a highlight of my NYC trip.
Unfortunately, I've been informed that she's home receiving hospice care and may not have long to live. This saddens me because all I see is a beautiful woman who had a beautiful smile and a great outlook on life.
I will never forget her for as long as I live. She is definitely proof why no one should substitute anything for the real deal and you should appreciate all the good things you have in your life. She is a true gem. She's more superior than any huge carat diamond. After all, some diamonds can be fake and before you know it, you're stuck with a cubic zirconia.
It's just amazing in this day and age, we've yet to find a cure for cancer. We've come a long way, but we've yet come close to eradicating the big C.
My thoughts will be with my friend.
